Guilty, but Fighting

Dear World,
I say this not as the best friend of a homosexual. Nor do I say this as a family member of homosexuals. I say this as a human being. I should have fought harder before the election in November 2008. I was of the false hope that people in my seemingly liberal state of California would never pass something as demeaning as proposition 8. This isn't about just prop 8. This about the dictionary. This is about definition. This is about religion ruling our laws. I am a firm believer that God exists. There is something out there watching us. And I believe God created us equal and free.
It is simply un-American to refuse anyone the right to their sexuality, choice(?), and rights. It is un-American to hinder the pursuit of happiness. It is our job to be unpartisan and unbiased.
First of all America was originally a safe haven for those fleeing religious prosecution. We are NOT a religion-based country. America will NEVER be a religious state. Do not kid yourself into thinking that you have the right to judge anyone.
Love isn't defined by Christians or Catholics or Muslims or Jews. Love isn't defined in simple terms. Love is feeling intristically. Bound to another human and God will accept all, regardless of "flaws". It is only he (she) who can judge that. Pretending you can make that desision makes you not only ignorant, but stupid and self-righeous.
I am not a supporter of biogtry. Humans are inheirently flawed. We were MADE to err. And for that reason alone we should stop throwing stones in our glass houses.
I have complete faith God will intervine on behalf of those being wronged. I believe whole-heartly that God created us and loves us all. He made us as we were supposed to be.
Please remember that it isn't your 'job' to judge. Please remember "Judge not lest you be judged". Please remember "laws" are subject to mans interpretation. Remember how flawed man is.
Please reject hate when you vote.
If I have to say this for the next 10 years I will only grow more passionate.
I am sorry for thinking my generation was capable of rejecting hate the first 2 times, but I will never accept bigotry, hate, and discrimation as part of my law.
I refuse to raise the next generation to hate. My future children may be gay, and I'll be damned if my kids will grow up persecuted and punished by my own lazy hands. Pass this on to every person you know.
Sincerely,
Ashley Lauren Galindo
